Pre-requisites: Officially CS367 – but really the ability to write non-trivial programs.
Note: Math 320 or 340 (linear algebra) is no longer a pre-requisite. (see discussion)
Announcements and Email: Generally, announcements will be made to this website. You can get an RSS feed or even have the web page send you emails. Please see this note about email accounts.
Books: There are no required textbooks. Required readings will be made available online.
Exams: There will be a midterm exam and a final exam.
The midterm exam will be (place and time to be determined).
The final exam will be in the time slot officially assigned by the registrar. Right now, that’s 2:30pm on Sunday, December 14th. However, the registrar sometimes changes this.
Note: Exams are difficult to reschedule, and arrangements must be made ahead of time. Please contact me a few weeks ahead of time if you forsee there being a problem.

Computing Environment: This class has been assigned to the Windows computing labs. If a program doesn’t run on the machines in these labs, it doesn’t run as far as we’re concerned. (see computing policies)
Previous course offerings: This semester will be quite different from previous offerings of CS559. A lot of it is an experiment.
