Current Events

Officially, I can make no comments about the current events going on in the state, and at the Capitol in particular. The University is not closed.

However, the University has told the faculty: “We recognize that there are many ways that students learn. We support your right, as faculty of our university, to determine the appropriate educational experience for your students.”

Therefore: I will be conducting classes (and non-lecture activities like today’s project check-ins) as originally planned. However, I appreciate that participating in the current events can be a valid educational experience, and will allow them to count as a replacement for scheduled class activities. Please let me know if you intend to choose some alternate educational experience instead of attending class.

OK, more directly: We will have class as scheduled. But, if you want to go to the Capitol instead of coming to class, that’s OK. I’d prefer if you let me know.
