The Week in Vis: Week 6 (Oct 5-9)
This week, we’ll start a new module: Module 2: Methodology: Making and Using Visualizations. Class time will be used for activities that wrap up Module 1, but we expect students to start with Reading 2-1 so you can do Reading Survey 2: Implementation and Methodology (due Fri, Oct 09) and Seek and Find 2: Too much stuff (due Fri, Oct 09).
Thinking in terms of 3 week modules is good for me because it allows me to think about how all the pieces of the class fit together. But, it does mean that the explanation of a whole module is more about the 3-week story, rather than what you need to do in a given week.
For this week, it’s pretty simple: You need to
- Read: See Reading 2-1
- Do the Reading Survey 2: Implementation and Methodology (due Fri, Oct 09)
- Do the Seek and Find 2: Too much stuff (due Fri, Oct 09) - which also depends on the reading. For this week, you need to find a visualization that shows off a scalability strategy. You need the reading to know about the scalability strategies.
Looking ahead: the following week, you will need to start making visualizations. So, you might want to start thinking about what tools you want to use.
