The Week in Vis: Week 3 (Sep 14-18)
This week we’ll finally be on a regular schedule… Monday and Wednesday classes, a first week of a three week module (with usually 1st week of module stuff, …). Topic-wise, we’ll begin a module on building blocks: the basic elements that we use to build and analyze visualizations.

The reading this week is an experiment: rather than having you read a pile of papers, I am mainly requiring you to read my summaries (see Reading 1-1). Hopefully, this will inspire you to read more. But it means that I can spend less time on the basics in class - so we can use more class time to explore the ideas.
We will start making visualizations. We’ll focus on sketching - because quickly exploring ideas is an important part of the process. Also, we haven’t gotten to implementation (yet).
By the end of the week, you should have completed the reading (so you can do the reading survey, and be ready for class next week), and the seek and find.
