Codes

Codes are short labels for things we noticed, so the same observation gets the same name for everyone. A code is written like G:COMPLETE: the letter before the colon is its valence (B = Bad, U = Ugly, N = Neutral, G = Good, S = Superlative). The letter shows how the code applies to your answer, which can differ from the code’s usual valence listed here. A code written without a letter, like :COMPLETE, has its usual valence.

Ugly

  • MISCOMP Missing Comparison - one of the key comparisons is not supported
  • MISERR Missing one of the errors
  • RATNORAT Rational not a Rationale - assertion without support

Neutral

  • JTF Just The Facts: Terse - just states problems tersely
  • NONE Nothing to note: No specific issues or highlights for this part.

Good

  • COMPLETE Complete Visualization - titles, legends, …
  • CRFORM Critique form: Critique was in critique form
  • KEYERS Got Key Errors - caught the main flaws in the visualization
  • NONSTD Non-Standard Design: Made a non-standard choice. This might be good or bad. In general, creativity is rewarded - but it is best to justify.
  • PROSCONS Has both Pros and Cons (not just negative)
  • RATION Notable rationale
