The Week in Vis: Week 10 (Nov 7-Nov 11): Perception
This week we’ll dig into human perception as an important foundation for visualization. We’ll also continue the Time Usage Survey Design Exercise.
This will be a non-standard week because of the Design Exercise: the Tuesday deadline to turn in drafts is strict, and the normal Friday activities will be replaced by doing critiques.

In terms of the project… you will turn in your drafts on Tuesday, recieve critique instructions on Wednesday, and for Friday (and over the weekend), you will do critiques. You will also want to start looking ahead to the following week where you will both turn in your final visualizations as well as begin to put together your project.
We will make the critiques available on Wednesday (as soon as we can, given that they won’t be handed in until Tuesday). The official due date is Friday (which doesn’t give you much time), but you can turn them in before Monday morning without penalty. If you don’t turn them in before Monday morning, they won’t get to the designer in time to help them.
The following week will also be non-standard. Design Exercise 9: Visualization Hand-Ins is due on Friday (Nov 18) (to give you time to encorporate feedback). For Tuesday, you need to complete DE10A: Project Topics Survey (due Tue, Nov 15), which checks that you have read Design Exercise 10: Project Proposal and are ready to discuss it in class on Wednesday, November 16th.
