This week in 679 (Monday 9/19-Friday 9/23) – you’ll continue working on your projects and the lectures will move to some more technical material: graphics and spatial data structures. Reading 3 has been assigned. It is required for Assignment 4, which is due at the end of the week.
- Monday 9/19 – we’ll have a lecture to think about what it means to do graphics for games, and cover the basic strategies for efficiency in graphics systems. While Reading 3 is useful for this, you can read it after the class.
- Wednesday 9/21 – we’ll discuss spatial data structures and acceleration structures. While this is relevant to Project 1, you probably won’t need it. As of right now, there is no reading for this lecture (unfortunately), since I haven’t identified a good tutorial. But, hopefully the lecture will give you a good idea of the basics, so you can dig into some more technical material.
- Friday 9/23 – Project 1, Milestone 2 will be due (details forthcoming). We will probably have in-lab demos again, although we might also have another optional activity as well.
Assignment 4 is due at the end of the week.
Looking further ahead, the following week, we’ll dig deeper into graphics in order to get set up for the next project, while you wrap up Project 1!
