March Plan
What’s happening in class for the rest of March and early April?
In terms of assignments…
- Portfolio 2: 3D Graphics (due Fri, Mar 21) is the only thing with a formal deadline before break.
- Content Survey 6: Shaders (due Wed, Apr 02) and Workbook Drafts 6: Shaders (due Wed, Apr 02) (Assignment Group 6: Shaders and Graphics Hardware) are due immediately after break.
- there may be small things due the week of April (prep for bigger projects)
- Portfolio 3: Graphics Town (due Mon, Apr 14) comes after that (details soon).
After that, it’s the “final project” (portfolio 4). More details coming…
In terms of class… (subject to change)
- Tuesday, March 18th - we’ll finish our discussion of fancy texturing, and then we’ll do some collaborative programming to try to add advanced texturing to the objects you’ve already made in the workbooks (and are putting into your portfolios). This will give you a chance to get some advanced texturing for your portfolio.
- Thursday, March 20th - we’ll take some time in class to help each other with portfolios. This will serve as the “rough draft” opportunity (an opportunity to get started on/continue work on your portfolios as well as talk to course staff about your portfolios). I also intend to use the class time to talk about projects - I want to get ideas of what people are interested in so I can figure out how to turn those interests into things that fit the constraints of a class project.
- Tuesday, April 1st - we’ll talk about the graphics hardware and shader programming. Shaders are tricky to get started with. Hopefully by class you will have done the readings and at least tried a little, so we can try to make sense of why shaders seem so weird.
- Thursday, April 3rd - we’ll dig deeper into shader programming by trying to do more of it in class.
- Tuesday, April 8th - a collaborative programming exercise based on Portfolio 3. (portfolio 3 will involve collaboration)
- Thursday April 10th - final project kickoff day
