Update for the first week in April

An update for the first week in April…

Last week was the last of the workbooks. Even though we only looked at one workbook, there was enough material that we could discuss a lot more. (and we’ll probably come back to some topics we didn’t get to).

But this week, our focus is forward looking… to Portfolio 3 and the final project.

You should have started on Portfolio 3. The official assignment for this week is Graphics Town (Portfolio 3) Check-In Survey (due Tue, Apr 08). However, you also need to have started working on things for Tuesday.

On Tuesday (April 8) we’ll use class to work on Portfolio 3. The idea was to “trade objects” - so you should have some idea of what kinds of objects you want for your Graphics Town, and have made some of them (that others might want). Tuesday won’t only be a chance to trade, it will be a chance to work together to refine objects. Be sure to have pushed a draft of your P3 with some objects in it.

On Thursday (April 10) we’ll use class to get started on the “Final Project” (Portfolio 4). Reality check is that there aren’t that many weeks left in the semester, so we’ll need to scale our ambitions accordingly. I expect to reveal my plan in class, talk about some specific project ideas, and arrange to meet with people individually to discuss project ideas.

A reminder… we sent Portfolio 2 Feedback last week. If you want us to look at your Portfolio 2 again, please follow the instructions.

Next week (April 14-18)… Portfolio 3: Graphics Town (due Mon, Apr 14) is due. The idea is that we will have a celebration of portfolios and show off the cool stuff that people did (probably on Tuesday), and use the other day to dig into projects.

After that, there are only 2 weeks of class!
